Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you and your families to the Bluffton Elementary School PTO. As the PTO board it is our responsibility to talk with you about getting involved in the school. But first, since this may be the first time at Bluffton Elementary for many of you, we think that it is important to explain what the PTO is all about.

For those who may not know, the PTO is an organization of parents, teachers and administrators. The PTO’s goal is to foster a nurturing and caring environment that strives for continued parent involvement in helping build a better educational environment for our children. We also promote a school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work with the resources we can provide and help make school fun. Through fundraising efforts, the PTO is able to donate funds to purchase educational materials and equipment, upgrade the playground, provide assemblies, field trips and other school activities.

For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have parental involvement from as many parents as possible. Many working parents feel that they cannot be included in the PTO because they cannot come to every meeting or be on campus during the day. There are endless possibilities in ways you can help. Whatever your own level of flexibility, Bluffton Elementary PTO always appreciates their parent volunteers, as does our teachers and staff. Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference. Whether you have 30 minutes or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. We can match your time constraints and interests to needed tasks. We have many ways in which Moms, Dads, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents can contribute. Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of our children!

Research shows that students whose parents are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems. We promise that the time you give our group and the school will be worth your while—and fun!

The PTO strives to bring these groups together to share thoughts and ideas about programs and activities that benefit children and families. Our PTO provides information and resources through email, newsletters, family programs, parent meetings, and other communication channels.

Won't you join us? We need your ideas and energy! Becoming active is really easy - and it really makes a difference! We look forward to a successful year.

Estimadas Familias,

Queremos tomar esta oportunidad para darles la bienvenida a la Escuela Elementaría de Bluffton y al PTO (Organización de Padres y Maestros). El PTO es responsable de promover el dialogo sobre como los padres pueden involucrarse en las actividades de la escuela. Como este es el primer año para muchos en Bluffton Elementary, creemos que es importante explicar los propósitos de esta organización.

El PTO es un grupo de padres, maestros y administradores de la escuela que se reúnen con el objetivo de fomentar una buena relación entre todos los miembros de la escuela con el fin de construir un mejor ambiente educativo para nuestros niños. Nosotros también promovemos actividades para recaudar fondos para que la administración y los maestros puedan llevar acabo actividades especiales en la escuela. Por ejemplo, el PTO puede donar fondos para comprar materiales y equipo educativo, reemplazar el equipo viejo en el jardín de recreo, y proporcionar fondos para las excursiones y actividades de los estudiantes.

Para que esta organización sea efectiva y haiga una buena representación de nuestra escuela, es esencial tener su participación como padres de familia. Muchos padres que trabajan sienten que no pueden ser incluidos en el PTO porque no pueden venir a cada reunión, o participar en la escuela durante el día. Aun así, hay posibilidades interminables en la que pueden ayudar. Cualquier ayuda a través del PTO y nuestros padres voluntarios se aprecia. Usted se beneficiara al compartir con los niños, llegara a conocer a otros padres de familia, y lograra hacer una diferencia en Bluffton Elementary. Si tiene solamente 30 minutos, un par de horas, o algunas ideas, sus talentos son necesarios. Podemos acomedir sus limitaciones de tiempo e intereses a trabajos específicos. También hay maneras en las que las tías, los tíos, y los abuelos pueden contribuir. ¡Considere por favor el hacer una diferencia en las vidas de nuestros niños! Los estudios demuestran que los estudiantes cuyos padres participan en su educación reciben mejores calificaciones y tienen menos problemas de disciplina. ¡Prometemos que el tiempo que usted brinde a la escuela valdrá la pena—y se divertirá!

El PTO se esfuerza en reunir a los padres, maestros y a la administración a que compartan pensamientos e ideas acerca de los programas y las actividades que benefician a los niños y a sus familias. Nuestros proporcionamos información y recursos por correo electrónico, los boletines, programas de familia, reuniones, y otros canales de comunicación.
