Bluffton Elementary School PTO Minutes For September 2009 Date: September 3, 2009 Location: Bluffton Elementary Cafeteria Lori Ryan, President called the meeting to order at 4:10 pm. Review and approval of June 2009 minutes: Cheryl Curry made a motion to accept and Beth Simpson 2nd the motion. All approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Darren Daveluy reported that we have a new Tax ID number and the paperwork is in process for the PTO to become a Non-Profit. He is looking for either an accountant or attorney to help with the paperwork. The budget is very tight, -$14,487.49 as no money has been raised yet. All requested have been put on hold until the Fun Run is held in October. Bounced Checks that we receive will be turned over to the Solicitors office. Lori Ryan made a motion to accept, Jennifer Ray 2nd the motion, all approved. Fundraising: The Fall Fun Run is being chaired by Missy Simonsen and will kickoff on Friday September 18, with a Pep Rally. The walk will be held on Thursday October 15. This will be a flat fee donation, not per lap. Missy will be checking with UCSB for student volunteers. All students will receive a T-shirt and charm. Grand prize will be a Wii gaming system and Wii Fit, and will be given to the student who raises the most money. The first Spirit Night will be on Thursday September 24 at Chick-Fil-La. Cheryl Curry is our Box Top coordinator and her goal is to receive a $1000.00 check from General Mills. Deb Hahn is still our Campbell’s Soup/ Pepperidge Farms Label coordinator. We are still looking for coordinators for: Ink jet/Cartridge, and the Capri Sun juice pouches. Volunteer Coordinator Report-Theresa Ball New on line volunteer sign up forms are on line at www.beaufort.k12.sc.us. then click Human Resources, click Employment Opportunities, click begin here, click yes for new user, then start your application process. Got PTO Challenge: This is a contest to the teachers for the 09-10 school year to get parents to participate more. The teachers earn points when they join the PTO, parents join the PTO,when they attend meetings, volunteer and participate in PTO events. Points are earned each Friday when a student wears a Spirit shirt. The teacher with the most points will get a special prize and the class will receive a party at the end of the year. Request for Funds: Duck food reimburstment to Heidi Toon for $34.00 Deb Hahn requested snacks and juice/water for the Bike Safety Check that is being held for our students on Saturday October 3. All other requests were being held until the next meeting. Missy Simonsen made a 1st motion and Linda Lance 2nd the motion. All approved. New Business: Missy Simonsen suggested that the classes Adopt-a-Duck. The classes can adopt, name and feed the duck. The Holiday Bazaar will be on Saturday November 14, details are still being worked on. The PTO meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:45pm, following the Teachers Staff meeting. The next PTO meeting will be on Thursday September 17, at 4:45pm. Thank you to Jim and Nick’s for the drinks and cheese biscuits that they donated for todays meeting.
